Program Director/Galveston’s Own Farmers Market’s Young Gardeners Program

Honi Alexander is a passionate community leader, entrepreneur, and is dedicated to fostering inclusivity, environmental awareness and sustainability. She is a graduate of Galvanize, American Leadership Foundation’s 1st Galveston Cohort, was the Judges Choice winner of Vision Galveston's first entrepreneurial cohort of Mortar Entrepreneurship Academy and later served as Co-Facilitator for its second. She is also a sought-after speaker, planner and workshop leader in the national school gardens community.

As Program Director for Galveston’s Own Farmers Market’s Young Gardeners Program, Honi’s personally impactful accomplishment has been founding and securing funding for the Students for Eco-Empowerment & Diversity (SEED) paid high school internship, which provides young people in Galveston with leadership and environmental education opportunities.

Honi moved to Galveston in 2015 to care for her parents and has since become deeply rooted in the community and an Islander by Choice (IBC). She is the proud mother of her daughter, Nia, and enjoys reading, traveling, and finding new ways to challenge herself to grow personally and professionally. Through her work, including managing Honey Gnomes Best, serving as a Real Estate Agent and licensed hairstylist, and community activist, Honi continues to inspire and empower others to make meaningful change and live out loud with purpose
